Role Overview

To work with the Divisional HR Director to help provide a full HR operational advisory service to the Operation division. The Operations Division has over 450 employees based in various of sites including Peterborough, London, Cambridge and Wimborne. This is a broad generalist role encompassing day-to-day HR and more ad- hoc project work as required.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy and varied role where you will need to be able to build relationships with employees and managers across the whole business unit. The successful candidate will therefore be willing to travel to other offices as necessary in accordance with business needs. A background in HR as a HR Assistant/HR Advisor role is required and there is opportunity for growth and development as the Division grows.

Employee Relations

  • Provide assistance to employees with regard to our HR system MyHR, acting as a first point of contact for the division
  • Work closely with HR Shared Service team
  • Complete monthly Divisional HR reporting
  • Providing advice and guidance to employees on general HR queries
  • Assisting with disciplinary investigations and managing hearings
  • Assisting with grievance investigations and managing hearings
  • Working with Managers to tackle and manage performance issues
  • Providing support to those on Performance Management improvement targets, liaising with People

    Development where required

  • Escalate complex employee relations issues to the Divisional HR Director and assist with cases where

    appropriate

  • Supporting the Divisional HR Director Change Initiatives e.g. restructuring and redundancy programmes
  • Supporting the Divisional HR Director to deliver HR strategy and Divisional goals

    Recruitment & Selection

  • Specifically work with our UK Compliance team to fulfil their HR/recruitment needs (from raising recruitment requests on the HR system, to working with recruiters to find candidates for the team to processing any leavers and changes the team may have)
  • Providing guidance and training where needed on recruitment processes to line managers

    Other Responsibilities

  • Representing the HR function via on-site visits and feeding back any concerns or ideas
  • Keep up to date with legislation changes and ensure compliance and best practice is adhered to
  • Assist with the annual remuneration process
  • Assist with annual promotion process
  • Assist with annual appraisal processes
  • Review current processes and procedures, making suggestions for efficiencies and driving these

    through to successful completion

  • Managing queries and having conversations with employees and managers about family leave including

maternity, shared parental and managing flexible working requests

• Overseeing HR Shared Services contact with creation of contracts and associated paperwork and acting as a point of escalation for any complex HR administration

Projects

  • HR Project team member, presenting ideas and driving recommendations through to successful conclusion
  • Support the Divisional HR Business Partners with the annual promotion process, analysing data, providing regular updates and interviewing candidates
  • Supporting promotions, salary reviews and bonus programmes in conjunction with the Divisional HR Director

    Additional

  • Management reporting, presenting analysis and recommendations to key Leaders re trends and concerns (Divisional Board Meeting attendee)
  • Working with Divisional HR Director/HR Business partners to build knowledge of employment Law, becoming confident over time with presenting risk v reward options and managing Settlements and ET cases

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Technical experience:-

• CIPD qualified or currently studying desirable

Skills and Knowledge

  • Up to date knowledge of current employment legislation
  • Previous experience working as an HR Assistant
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and influence stakeholders across all

    levels of the organisation

  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience of working with a HR database
  • Experience of working with a HRIS (My HR is desirable)
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal/verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Pro-active/takes ownership of responsibilities
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to travel to other offices
